Kampala, Uganda - In a significant collaboration, the Network for Education and Multidisciplinary Research Africa (NEMRA) and the National Council for Science and Technology (UNCST) have joined forces to conduct a comprehensive study on the status of research management and administration in Uganda.
The partnership, formalized in May, aims to shed light on the participant’s knowledge and skills regarding research management and administration, including their understanding of standards, requirements, and professional practices necessary for effective research processes and resource management.
The announcement of this collaboration was recently made by Dr. Juliet Kyayesiimira, the Executive Director of NEMRA, who shared the exciting news during a recent gathering of members. Dr. Kyayesiimira expressed her enthusiasm for the project, stating, “I bring good news from the secretariat.
We are finally set and ready to begin data collection for the project on ‘STATUS OF RESEARCH MANAGEMENT AND ADMINISTRATION IN UGANDA’ that will be implemented by NEMRA in partnership with UNCST.”
The primary objective of this initiative is to assess the current state of knowledge and skills among participants in research management and administration.
Through a comprehensive inquiry and survey process, NEMRA-UNCST will gather valuable insights that will inform the development of a researcher training program tailored to address the identified gaps and enhance professionalism in research management and administration.
NEMRA, the Network for Education and Multidisciplinary Research Africa, is a renowned organization dedicated to promoting multidisciplinary research, innovation, and capacity building across the African continent. With a commitment to bridging the gap between academia and industry, NEMRA strives to foster collaboration and knowledge exchange among researchers, educators, and policymakers.
On the other hand, the National Council for Science and Technology (UNCST) plays a pivotal role in Uganda’s scientific landscape. As the apex body responsible for coordinating, promoting, and regulating scientific research and development in the country, UNCST actively supports the advancement of science, technology, and innovation for national development.
The NEMRA-UNCST partnership signifies a crucial step towards enhancing research management and administration practices in Uganda. By conducting this in-depth study, the collaboration aims to equip researchers with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively navigate the research process, adhere to professional standards, and maximize the utilization of resources.
The results of the survey will serve as a valuable foundation for designing a robust researcher training program, ultimately contributing to the growth and advancement of Uganda’s research ecosystem.
Dr. Kyayesiimira told ResearchFinds News this morning that the NEMRA team has already finished data collection o the status of research management and administration. The research is funded by UNCST.
